Spectacular sunsets, quirky locals and some of the island’s best surfing action, Balian Beach, on the South West coast of Bali, is the perfect escape from the tourist traps of the main towns. With only a handful of accommodations and places to eat or drink, hardcore partiers will be disappointed but, if you’re looking for an authentic, laidback Bali experience, this is the place to go. A Tale or Two About…A Spiked Drink, A Stolen Purse…& A Change of Plan

Right from the moment I started travelling back in October, I knew that I wanted to be as far away from a normal, traditional Christmas as I could possibly be this year. Bali seemed like the perfect place for anyone wanting to escape the holidays and so my plan had always been to spend both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on the island, preferably lying on a beach or by a pool with a cocktail in hand.
