A Travellin’ Tale for Geotourist: Free tours for curious travellers!

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working with the very cool people at Geotourist to create walking tours for some of my favourite cities around the world, and I’m happy to say that they are now available to find on the Geotourist app! The best thing? It’s completely free to download and listen to tours – making it friendly for budget travellers who (like me!) can’t always afford the expensive guidebook or paid-for physical tour.  Continue reading

A Tale or Two About: The Last Six Months

If you’re a subscriber or follower of A Travellin’ Tale, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve been more than a little absent from the blog over the past six months. It sounds like a cop-out to say that I’ve just been too busy to post but…that’s the truth!

The first half of this year has flown by and with working abroad rather than simply just travelling, the majority of my free time has been spent catching up on important daily things (you know, like eating and sleeping) rather than writing…but I’m hoping to change all of that now… Continue reading

A Tale or Two About…A Spiked Drink, A Stolen Purse…& A Change of Plan

Right from the moment I started travelling back in October, I knew that I wanted to be as far away from a normal, traditional Christmas as I could possibly be this year. Bali seemed like the perfect place for anyone wanting to escape the holidays and so my plan had always been to spend both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on the island, preferably lying on a beach or by a pool with a cocktail in hand.

A Tale or Two About…A Life Changing Year

First, let me start by wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! Given the recent, unexpected changes to my travelling plans (which I’ll be blogging about in more detail soon) and the typically reflective feeling that the end of one year and the beginning of another one brings, it seemed like the right time to post some sort of a round-up. A Tale or Two About…Feeling Fortunate

Around a week ago, when I was staying in Florence, I received an unexpected message from my ex-boyfriend’s mum (the American I posted about in The Tale Behind This Blog). It seemed that she had been thinking of me, decided to check my Facebook page and had discovered that I was currently travelling. With the recent attacks in Europe, she said she wanted to get in touch to see how I was doing. The message was, I have absolutely no doubt, meant to be kind and simply her way of letting me know that she was still thinking of me…but something about the way it was worded made me furious.  Continue reading

A Tale or Two About…Letting Go and Just Going

If you’ve read the recently updated “The Tale Behind This Blog” then you’ll already know that, in the past six weeks, my life has undergone a massive change. I had been preparing to move to Oregon for over a year and a half but, in the space of one FaceTime call, everything I thought about my future was turned upside down. Life doesn’t always work out the way you want it to – plans change, and more importantly (as the First Aid Kit song goes) you can’t plan on the heart…or in this case, someone else’s heart. Continue reading

Life Tales…A Travellin’ Tattoo

Tattoos are not something I take lightly. I’m not the type of person who would walk into a tattoo studio and pick something out of a flip book or off the wall. There’s nothing wrong with doing it that way and I know plenty of people who have but, personally, if something is going to be with me for the rest of my life, it has to mean more… Continue reading
